A Touch of Moxy honors the sacred bond between you and your pet, and offers virtual sanctuary as you grieve their loss.

Welcome, dear friend.

Stay as long as you need.

To live in this world

you must be able to do three things:
to love what is mortal;
to hold it

against your bones knowing
your own life depends on it;
and, when the time comes to let it go,
to let it go.

— Mary Oliver

(from In Blackwater Woods)

There’s never enough time with the ones you love.

And when it comes to your precious animal companion, time feels even more fleeting. Through your pet, you witness life’s cycles in a shorter span: how quickly the tiny furball transforms into the full-sized adolescent, and then into the wizened adult. If it were up to you and me, we’d keep them forever.

How do I know? You wouldn’t be here if you didn’t love your loyal sidekick with everything that you are. Whatever species your pet happens to be—dog, cat, bunny, horse, goat, bird, guinea pig, ferret, lizard or pot-bellied pig—doesn’t change their importance in your life or what they mean to you.

No matter where you find yourself along the continuum—whether you’ve recently welcomed a four-legged addition into your family, or your best friend has been diagnosed with a serious illness or is simply slowing down, or you’re suffering from the heartbreak of a final farewell—you belong here.

And whatever you call them—pet or (fur) baby; best friend or child; companion, soulmate, familiar or family member—as a pure expression of unconditional love, they’ve grounded you, comforted you, sustained you. If there’s a better experience of unconditional love, I haven’t found it. It’s no wonder their loss feels traumatic.

May you breathe a little easier, realizing who you love can never be separate from you. May you stay wholly present to the life happening in and around you, right now. And may you find a sense of peace and comfort here, knowing your feelings and experiences are real and valid.

You are not alone.

What do you need?

Be part of our community.

In honor of your treasured relationship, I offer you this compassionate space where your dear one is recognized as family and your grief has room to breathe. Healing happens in community, not isolation—that’s where A Touch of Moxy comes in. Together, our shared love of animals provides deep understanding and restores a sense of wholeness and belonging. By voicing your pain and suffering, your fear and struggles, and your profound love for your pet, you open the door to healing and realize you’re in good company. You feel seen, heard, and accepted—because you are.

Thank you —

for being the kind of person who loves so deeply, who cares so much, and who safeguards our fellow creatures with compassion, grace, and dignity.

The world needs more people like you.

Having the courage to feel and share what’s true;

reaching out to hold your hand when you’re hurting;

letting yourself be seen and saying, “Me, too”—

that’s A Touch of Moxy.

“Until one has loved an animal, a part of one’s soul remains unawakened.”

— Anatole France

Toss a pebble to create many ripples.

Sustaining A Touch of Moxy is a more-than-full-time (and self-funded) endeavor. Everything I have—heart and soul, time and energy—is poured into this passion-driven cause. Because grief is hard enough, and because I believe in equal accessibility, the core content is kept free. You will also never see advertisements of any kind. To keep the ripple effect flowing, 10 percent (to start) of everything earned here is given back to the world via animal- and environment-related charities and nonprofits, as well as aiding pet parents with veterinary costs. If you’ve found solace and sanctuary here, and if you have the means and desire, please consider showing support by tossing your pebble and donating any amount that feels good. Thank you for your generosity—may it be returned tenfold.
